My name is Yuhan Zhang, and I am a first-year PhD student in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Northwestern University. I completed my undergraduate studies in Spanish Language and Literature at Nanjing University, an experience that sparked my interest in linguistics. Later, I pursued a master’s degree in Linguistics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where I had the opportunity to work with children with cochlear implants. This work deepened my fascination with hearing science.
For my doctoral research, I plan to explore the neural mechanisms underlying hearing science using animal models. Outside of the lab, I am passionate about sports—especially boxing and backpacking in the wild. I’m also a huge fan of Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, even though I can never seem to shoot three-pointers as well as they do.
