Hi! My name is Mary Kate Tanselle and I’m a third year undergraduate student majoring in neuroscience and minoring in dance on the pre-medicine track at Northwestern University. I joined CAPLab in February 2025 after enjoying coursework that exposed me to molecular and systems neuroscience. I will be working with Ph.D. student Kristine McLellan to study differences in temporal coding across the tonotopic axis in chick NM, differentiating developmental properties between low and high frequency neurons. I hope to write a senior thesis exploring chick ABR tests and after graduation pursue a MD degree to ultimately work as a physician. In my free time, I perform in campus groups TONIK Tap and Steam Heat Dance Company and enjoy golfing, sewing, trying new food, traveling, and spending time with those I love!
